The use of fuel ethanol significantly decreases tail pipe emissions of deadly carbon monoxide from automobiles, and when blended with conforming gasoline, reduces the use of toxic chemicals such as benzene, toluene and xylene.

Western Ethanol, along with its affiliates and strategic partners, has been an active leader in advocating the use of ethanol as a gasoline additive in low level blends (10% or less by volume). In recent years, Western Ethanol has focused on developing markets and retail distribution for E85 (85% ethanol and 15% gasoline) for use in Flex Fuel Vehicles.

Western Ethanol is dedicated to expanding markets for ethanol from agriculture, biomass and cellulose, which will help reduce our country's dependence on imported crude oil, lessen our balance of payments deficit, and contribute to a significant reduction in toxic air pollution.
